It's really bad to hear this kind of stuff happening to anyone whether it's Thailand or Africa or even in the US. Those people may have tried to cheat by coming into the country illegally, but it's even more wrong to let them die like that. I hope they arrest the guys who forced those ppo onto the boat like that.

It's such a tragic to hear that these people were trying to search for a chance, a new life, yet some ended up ending their life instead.

Its very sad to hear, even if they tried to come in illegally but they are still human begin, no one deserve to die like this, no one deserves to die when there are other ways, when they can be saved, its just like the case with those Burma people trying to enter Thailand by hiding in a truck that contain ice or something it was very cold... once they all couldn't take it anymore they tried to beg the driver to stop but the driver heartlessly tell them if they want to enter Thailand they have to put up with it and left them chilled to death, all died inside the icy truck, women, men, children. This probably the same, they just wanted to have another chance, a better life, they don't choose to born poor and to fight for a living.

Urgh! This reminds me of the 3,000 Hmong people that were repatriated back to Laos. A small mumber of them were documented refugees, but Thai officials didn't care. They sent them back with the rest. They said Laos promised no prosecution and peaceful settlement, yet failed to provide facts an evidence about the negotiation. The UN was not permitted to enter the camps or conduct interviews. The little contact the UN had with the people were strictly monitored. Things were just fishy...

It amazes me that people can turn their backs on their own kind as human beings. I agree that there are legalities and processes that illegal immigrants should go through in order to live in another country but in the end they are still human with feelings, family, etc. The least another country can do is treat them with some respect even if they are not able to help them.

I know it's wrong for people to try to enter a country illegally but isn't it too cruel to just let your fellow human beings die like that?

I agree. This does remind me of that situation. Still makes me upset that not much was done to help the Hmong people!

But this is really cruel. They might be there illegally, but they shouldn't have been treated that way
