This was somewhat of an interesting as well as touching story. The movie contains a few horror elements but technically, it's more of a complicated love story. I love Zhou Xun, she's such a great actress. Even though, I sympathized for Zhao Wei's sacrifices and true love but Zhou Xun was so flawless as Xiao Wei, I couldn't help but pity her as well. Anyway, a must watch but don't want to talk too much, may spoil the fun. Here's the trailer and music video. I must say, Chinese movies these days ALL suck but this one escapes that by an inch or two lol. I mean, it's a good story since it's based on Chinese folktales but I thought the storyline could have used more sweet scenes between the leads and whatnot but for the current movie market, this one ranges quite well. Superb acting from both leading actresses that really carried the show. I love the OST too, so sweet and sad.

Oh just wanted to mention, at the ending credits, Kantana was also credited too. It's pretty neat that Kantana had some collaboration to this movie.

omg i just saw this at crunchyroll the other day but just browsed right past it cuz it didn't look interesting. It really didn't catch my attention, but also cuz im not in the mood to watch this kind of movie right now. Besides you're right aiyaja, I haven't been interested in chinese movies for quite some time now cuz they're not producing any worthwhile, good movies or series.

...but if you really recommend this movie, then ok I think ill give it a try this weekend.

It was my type of movie but at some points, the movie was a bit slow so beware lol.

Not a fan of Zhao Wei either but she was pretty good at this role plus, I've just become a fan of Zhou Xun from this movie. Never really cared for Zhou Xun's movies before, even though she is a critically acclaimed actress but never bothered until now. Now I'm beginning to understand and see why she's such a wanted and popular Mainland actress, she's just sooo good at what she does, the emotions in acitng.
