so for a week now, the protest still continues, leaving 1 person dead after a violent eruption last night.. before yesterday, it was somewhat of a peaceful protest.. except for those 80 something people armed with weapons taking over the nbt news station but they were quickly arrested.. then two days ago, the pro-government decided to counter protest and that was when the violent erupted.. so now 1 is dead.. not sure which side..

Quote

The alliance and their sympathizers — monarchists, the military and the urban elite — complain that Western-style democracy with one-man, one-vote gives too much weight to Thailand's rural majority, who protesters say are susceptible to vote buying that breeds corruption. They have proposed a system under which most lawmakers would be appointed rather than elected.

are these people serious? so they rather have a dictator ship and give the lawmakers complete power then allow the people to vote? what makes them think that you can't buy your way in with lawmakers? you can buy your way in and buy cement for it too.. oh yeah these bangkok educated people sure are brilliant..

I hope the one dead is the one protesting, sorry to be so harsh but seriously the police did warn if it gets out of hand they will have to do something and if people don't back up they will and when they did, the media and public write shit saying the police gone over the line and hurt locals, that's such bull!

I don't understand why Thai people don't like freedom to vote, would they want the country to be run by Hitler? bloodly hell Samak haven't done anything wrong and they want him to resign, just rest in peace and see what Samak can do for the country first, he haven't even get a chance to do something yet and people already protesting, too bad the King has little say in this area but with a few words, I think if the King tell people to stop.. they might stop. I dunno.

it's the elites.. they think they are the one who are smart enough to run the country.. but again not all elites are like that..

anyways.. the police are unarmed.. the king asked samak not to hurt the protesters.. it's the protesters who are hurting each other..

Even though I was born in another country I am so proud to be an American. I am truly concerned for this country's future, but I still have hope. I still have much respect and love for my heritage because America lets me be me.

When I hear about other countries trying to have their freedom and what they go through it is heartfelt. I hope things get resolved quickly in Thailand.

I think the King doesnt want to say anything. Not to be harsh, I think he's rather pleased they're protesting. Samak isnt in his favor nways

all he has to say is stop stop protesting, let democracy stand. But nope, instead he tells Samak dont hurt protestors. It's almost like encouraging the protesting...while making it look like Samak would actually hurt the people if not for him requesting Samak not to
