The 19-year-old daughter of a woman held captive in an underground dungeon in Austria for 24 years has woken from a coma.
Kerstin Fritzl had been in a coma since late last month after she was taken to hospital from the cellar she shared with her mother, Elisabeth, and two younger brothers.
The three children were fathered by Elisabeth's father Josef Fritzl, who imprisoned them in the dungeon beneath his family home.
Doctors had feared Kerstin might die when her organs began to fail earlier this month.
But they have now revealed that she opened her eyes at the weekend, sparking hope that she'll recover.
"In a world that was very dark, the Fritzls now have light," a source told the Daily Mirror newspaper in Britain.
"Elisabeth and family are very happy, but they know they mustn't get their hopes up too high.
"Kerstin's incredibly fragile. She'll be in bed a long time - probably months."
The 19-year-old has not yet managed to speak to doctors or her family.
"She moves when she feels pressure on her skin," the source said.
"Everybody's crossing their fingers this recovery will continue but nobody can predict it."
Authorities say Fritzl confessed to locking up his daughter Elisabeth for 24 years in the cellar below his home in Amstetten, Austria, repeatedly raping her and fathering seven children with her.
Investigators say he told them three of the children were raised in the cellar, three others were brought up above ground and one died in infancy.
DNA tests have confirmed Fritzl is the biological father of the six surviving children.

like hello maybe he up to something like have a body hidden in there or something, no one was remotely curious? As for the mom no comment cause there's a difference between not knowing and choosing not to wanna know, she would be the kind of woman he would marry with no self-esteem and never question him even after there daughter left like she had no clue he was messing with his own daugther come on before that*erj* She even stayed with him after he spent time in jail for raping someone else*mg*. What woman would be proud to be married to a rapist, the wife sister even said that he didn't sleep with his wife cause he said she's to fat and he didn't like fat woman and than he said the daughter join the cult, like everytime i hear news report about the cult, the cult members always keep there kids with them cause them crazy cult leaders can have more people to brain wash and control. The worst part about this is that he really doesn't think he did anything really wrong wrong but can't help himself and blame it on some mental problem 
I don't know many mental people that plan things years in advance in order to satisfy there sick needs. That whole family is gonna be messed up cause it's such huge news all over the world even that youngest at 5 yr. old is gonna be messed up cause he old enough to know things that are going around them and i wouldn't be surprise that he was raping his grandaughter/daughter and his daughter also cause he started raping her at like age 11 and yet he questions why she was acting out and trying to run away forever from them. Poor woman from a very young age to a grown woman she didn't experience much love or kindness from the very person that was suppose to provide that for her but she got the total opposite a constant daily living nightmare with no escape and probably too late for a chance to start over and live a normal life. Sorry it's long but this story got me ticked off he's a sicko/pyscho that even when he dies it well be awhile before he's reborn again after what he did and not willing to admit to all his wrong doings and when he is reborn again he'll go through alot worst than what he did to her and all them kids cause karma's a bitch!!!!!
