F4's Propaganda, Saying Taiwan Is A "State",Was Strongly Denounced by Chinese Net Users

Source: ent.huash.com
Date: August 7, 2007

Taiwan's Tourism Ambassador F4's careless talks on Taiwan as a "state" triggered condemnation among chinese on-line users, their commercials were blocked online and their official website were placed with black "X" marks.

In March this year, -F4 (Jerry),( Vanness), (Zaizai) and (Ken) was invited to Japan and South Korea as Taiwan Tourism ambassadors. Three of them Jerry, Vanness & Zaizai claimed Taiwan is a "state", in some fragments of their tourism commercial, causing online chinese users to be extremely disgusted , and some decided to protest, and boycott anything or any products related to F4 as a punishment.

Recently, there was a furor over another Taiwanese artist, Jay Chou, during his movie promo in China, when he was asked about well known historical communist figure in China, Lei Fung and made wrong comments about the historical figure.Even when he publicly apologized, he was not yet forgiven. Earlier Mike He and Yang Chenglin's broadcast of their new series was suspended, due to Cheng Lin's previous remarks on Nanjing massacre. In addition, when Vicky Zhao Wei wore a Japanese flag during a concert, it stirred a storm on the mad crowd....

It's crazy how half my Taiwanese friends call themselves Chinese, while the other half wants absolutely NOTHING to do with the mainland, I never know whether to consider Taiwan its own completely separate country or a state of China to not offend anybody, cause either way someone will be offended, don't blame the F4 boys for the ordeal..

well the majority probably consider them independent. lol Isn't Taiwan still under USA? Plus the government of Taiwan said they will only join China once they are not a communist.

Well the netizen of China just bashed, boycott anything that these celebrity said wrong even when they already apologize, the apology is not acepted.

China blocked them? You mean Taiwan? (confusing isn't it? lol)
But yeah, I know Taiwan is the republic of china and is supposed to be its own country and won't rejoin China till they are non communist like you said,
But the Chinese still adimately insist that Taiwan never left the union, and is just a "rebellious state", and if anyone insists otherwise, they get kind of offended, so what I meant was that however way you look at Taiwan, no matter what you say you're going to offend someone since opinion's split na?

But I think because they are Taiwanese and they said that it was a state (though some Taiwanese do think that) when they're supposed to be for independence, that is why Taiwan is reacting how it is...

lol no no no, when I said China boycot them, it's some chinese people that are making a big deal. Taiwanese public don't really say anything. LOL Offended or not, it's just my opinion. If they strongly believe in their opinion that Taiwan belong to them, I respect that. I won't argue. lol

Well so far, like the article has said, Rainie said something, it is her own ignorance, lack of knowledge about history, she apologized, but they still protest on boycotting anything that related to her, her commercial, they blocked her out and they want to boycot her series that is going to air in China. Then Jay, he said something wrong about history, he apologized but they're still making a huge deal over this. With F4, it's their freaken opinion and we're talking at the moment, Taiwan is independent so in my opinion, they have the right to voice.

Ahh I misread the article, sorry sorry, my bad~~~ lol I thought it said Taiwan was the one upset by what was said..
Why was China upset then? Don't they still consider Taiwan a state? Blah, the whole Chinese/Taiwanese thing confuses me, as I said before xD; and one side or the other is always going to get offended..
I agree with you, though, I think they should have a right to voice their opinion

Most people in Taiwan consider themselves Taiwanese and want nothing to do with mainland China, nor considers themselves Chinese.... I know because I've been there before... In reality, Taiwan is a very successful country whether it is a separate state or not... It did rise to success on it's own without China's help.... The history of Taiwan is in fact very facisinating along with how it ties with China...

Taiwan has close ties to the US but it's not exactly a part of the US yet and probably won't reconcile with Mainland either. The term Chinese is sort of like the term Asian where it generalizes everyone in certain situations but people residing in Taiwan refer to themselves as Taiwanese. People in Hong Kong refer to themselves as Cantonese. The Mainland people refer to themselves as Chinese. It's quite complicated.

Sorry to say, Mainland Chinese are soooooo stupid, not everyone, but those who always criticize, boycott, and point fingers at others for very dumb reasons. They make a big fuss out of nothing. So what if some people don't perfectly know all the facts of history like Rainie and Jay. *muha* Rainie and Jay already apologized, that should be enough but if Mainland Chinese are still stubborn enough to continue boycotting for such absurd reasons then that's probably why Taiwan persists in remaining an independent state, yes STATE! There's nothing wrong with F4's statement. China is being such a baby for reacting this way. *rxl*

lol same thing with Japanese on the case of The Rape of Nanking. This will never ends. lol I mean I do sympathy the people 60 years ago but now, I don't really have much feeling for this generation. The Japanese 60 years ago are cruel but come on, let's move on. lol Chinese, some really hold grudges. They're raised to hate Japanese, they will hate Japanese. I came across people who generalize calling every Japanese to go to hell and that they're all evil. I just think it's too much. lol They wants apology from the PM of Japan, they did, but they said it's not sincere enough. The PM of Japan visiting the shrine of the soldier 60 years old for honor, Chinese protest. *<ha*

It really do offend some people but I have to voice from a neutral perspective. lol Those chinese that wants people to remember their history correctly, I wonder if they themselve knows enough about their own or just making a big deal of anything? I wonder if they even know history of other countries. But I already know the answer, which is no :( even historian doesn't know about every history unless they study about that certain country.

Correction, when I say Chinese, I meant Mainland Chinese.

^Haha, if Mainland was that sensitive then, they shouldn't remake Japanese songs period. I've heard some Mainland songs that were originally from Japan so they really need to re-evaluate themselves. Gosh, Mainland has nothing to do but bash others and play victim. What the Japanese did to the Chinese decades ago shouldn't be the responsibility of today's generation, they need to get that straight. Yeah, I heard about that issue and you know what bugs me? When they asked some Chinese celebrities about the issue, some very ignorant Chinese celebrities like Twins were all like, "we're not sure what the problem is but no matter what, we're supporting the Chinese." :( That's plain stupid, blind, and biased. That is where I lost all respect for them. It's not like the Chinese has never attacked, killed, and raped other races, they have, they're not innocent either and I don't see other races calling out for justice 50 years later. Anyway, this is quite an intense topic eh?

*lol!* yes it is an intense topic. lol Twin said that? Well, most Chinese were have said that cuz they're aiming for their own support, you know to buy their product and stuff? LOL But then again, there is a neutral side. lol Some even boycot Japanese technology *ha-ha* how can you live without their technology? LOL I heard that the 2008 Olympic is about to be cancelled in China? Or was it confirmed? I heard a friend said it was cancelled but from reading in the internet, people saying they want to cancelled.
