April 18, 2007 — NBC has received a package they believe was sent to the network by Seung-Hui Cho, the Virginia Tech senior who killed 32 people and then himself in a shooting rampage on the university's campus on Monday.

The package includes photographs of Cho holding firearms, law enforcement sources said, but no footage of victims or the first shooting.

The package also contained a DVD with video and a letter running several pages long. Sources describe the letter as angry and rambling—-expressing hatred for rich people and elitists. It is described as very similar to the letter discovered in the Cho's dorm room. According to NBC news it states "this did not have to happen."

The package was mailed at 9:01 a.m. Monday morning at a Blacksburg, Va post office, sources said. Cho allegedly put the package in the hands of a female clerk before leaving. The clerk told us a little while ago she remember seeing Cho and recalls having to look up the zipcode for New York City's Rockefeller Plaza.

It appears that the suspect took the time to mail a package in between his shooting spree—-showing a degree of cold blooded planning.

He mailed the package right after allegedly having shot people to death at 7:15 a.m.. He then appears to have calmly went on his way back to campus and eye witnesses say he began murdering 29 more people—about 39 minutes later.

The package was mailed to NBC heaquarters at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. It was received today.

The broadcaster says it immediately contacted the FBI New York field office. The FBI is now forwarding the evidence to the Virginia State Police.

MSNBC, the Web site for MSNBC, published one of the photos in the package this afternoon.

BLACKSBURG, Va. Apr 18, 2007 (AP)— Midway through his murderous rampage, the Virginia Tech gunman went to the post office and mailed NBC a package containing photos and videos of him brandishing guns and delivering a snarling, profanity-laced tirade about rich "brats" and their "hedonistic needs."

"You had a hundred billion chances and ways to have avoided today," 23-year-old Cho Seung-Hui says in a harsh monotone. "But you decided to spill my blood. You forced me into a corner and gave me only one option. The decision was yours. Now you have blood on your hands that will never wash off."

NBC said the package contained a rambling and often-incoherent, 1,800-word video manifesto, plus 43 photos, 11 of them showing him aiming handguns at the camera.

He repeatedly suggests he was picked on or otherwise hurt.

"You have vandalized my heart, raped my soul and torched my conscience," he says, apparently reading from his manifesto. "You thought it was one pathetic boy's life you were extinguishing. Thanks to you, I die like Jesus Christ, to inspire generations of the weak and the defenseless people."

The package arrived at NBC's headquarters in New York two days after Cho killed 32 people and committed suicide in the deadliest one-man shooting rampage in modern U.S. history. It bore a Postal Service time stamp showing that it had been mailed at a Virginia post office at 9:01 a.m. Monday, about an hour and 45 minutes after Cho first opened fire.

That would help explain one of the biggest mysteries about the massacre: where the gunman was and what he did during that two-hour window between the first burst of gunfire, at a high-rise dorm, and the second fusillade, at a classroom building.

"Your Mercedes wasn't enough, you brats," says Cho, a South Korean immigrant whose parents work at a dry cleaners in surburban Washington. "Your golden necklaces weren't enough, you snobs. Your trust funds wasn't enough. Your vodka and cognac wasn't enough. All your debaucheries weren't enough. Those weren't enough to fulfill your hedonistic needs. You had everything."

Some of the pictures in the video package show him smiling; others show him frowning and snarling. Some depict him brandishing two weapons at a time, one in each hand. He wears a khaki-colored military-style vest, fingerless gloves, a black T-shirt, a backpack and a backward, black baseball cap. Another photo shows him swinging a hammer two-fisted. Another shows an angry-looking Cho holding a gun to his temple.

He refers to "martyrs like Eric and Dylan" a reference to the teenage killers in the Columbine High massacre.

The package was sent by overnight delivery but did not arrive at NBC until Wednesday morning, apparently because it had the wrong ZIP code, NBC said.

An alert postal employee brought the package to NBC's attention after noticing the Blacksburg return address and a name similar to the words reportedly found scrawled in red ink on Cho's arm after the bloodbath, "Ismail Ax," NBC said.

NBC News President Steve Capus said that the network received the package around noon and notified the FBI, but held off reporting on it at the FBI's request, so that the bureau could look at it first. NBC finally broke the story just before police announced the development at 4:30 p.m.

Capus said it was clear Cho videotaped himself, because he could be seen leaning in to shut off the camera.

State Police Spokeswoman Corinne Geller cautioned that, while the package was mailed between the two shootings, police have not inspected the footage and have yet to establish exactly when the images were made.

Cho repeatedly suggests he was picked on or otherwise hurt.

Earlier Wednesday, authorities disclosed that in November and December 2005, two women complained to campus police that they had received calls and computer messages from Cho. But the women considered the messages "annoying," not threatening, and neither pressed charges, Virginia Tech Police Chief Wendell Flinchum said.

I think about my sister and brother a lot when I heard the news they don’t go to Va.Tech but school shooting in US it so common scare me it seems like a copy cat this time and they are many incident happened in the past years.

i consider myself pretty lucky in Australia, we have laws with guns and control stuff like that, its very strict here with what you can do, even walking across the road (although no cars for sure) without pressing the lights can cause you a ticket from the police lol ... oh i can go on about some of the silly laws and rules lol.

i think that this thing could happen anywhere. It is no longer a safe place to live. It is crazy to be thinking about going somewhere where it could occur. In a way i think some people will use those killers as an example cuz that guy said something about following Columbine incident. I kno it is very important to have updates, but more exposure may lead to people copying it. Kids are often known as imitators and something like this could give people recognition although in a bad way, but they r all over the world.

That's right, correct on that, more exposure gives to more copycats, its not a good thing to expose, they should have not released the video and photos are very distubing. It is very scary, sitting in class learning, suddenly a gun peeks in the doorway and comes and guy who start slowing shooting, picking out people, not shooting crazyily everywhere but calmy going as if he did not rush to go anywhere as those he wants dead dead or shot a few more innocents just for the hell of it since his already doing wrong. Picture being the ex-girlfriend, one day you ex comes up and start agruing than bang your died, him stepping all over your blood.
