Chakrit has difficulty reading Thai scripts

Posted Image

Even though he had been in the entertainment industry for long enough and filmed many movies but Chakrit Yamnam hasn't been able to read Thai scripts by himself. Today, Chakrit revealed that his Thai is much better now. He doesn't need the help of karaoke but he doesn't know how to write yet. He revealed he used his understanding and his memory for his lakorns.

Seems like you haven't been able to read Thai script and still use the help of karaoke?

"I could now but I'm still slow at it. I couldn't write but I could read now. I read the script in Thai but if I stumble I could guess what the word is if I read from the beginning. I still use some karaoke today for some words and if I don't understand I would just ask, especially if it's an old word like in the sitcom Pen Tor likes to use a lot, so, I would ask what it mean and I would understand."

Is this an obstacle for you to memorize the scripts?

"No. I let someone read it for me and then I remember it. Lucky I have a good memory. So, I just use my understanding when reading it and it's fine to work this way as the result it is what you have seen."

Mint Chalida said she got injure in the leg when filming for this lakorn, and now afraid of the possible scar:

From the photo I don't think there will be any scar, provided she takes care of it and uses some proper treatment. But the wound seems to be quite huge, wonder what happened?

talk about no advancement. how the heck do you live in thailand for the past decade or so and still not be able to adapt to the language? I mean it's not as if he's taking on a career that doesnt require reading. He's constantly reading scripts, so shouldnt it come natural after time?

I think he's one of those people who wants to be known as being an international person who isnt fluent in his own language. Its cooler that way to the natives in thailand *nthu*

that reminds me Wang Lee-Hom, and ABC (America-Born Chinese) singer and actor. He started as model and singer in Taiwan in late 1990's I think, and at that time, he couldn't read or even speak Chinese (Neither Mandarin nor Cantonese). His mother was always with him at the filming scene, explaining the scripts to him in English, and taught him the pronunciations. But now he's a singer-composer-actor-director, who updates his own Facebook and blog almost every other day, in both Chinese and English. And I've watched his interviews, his Mandarin is very fluent and no one can tell any "American accent" any more.

yup Mai I agree with you that, someone might just wants to show himself "special" by cannot grasp his own mother language, lol.

Chakrit is fluent in Thai. lol He need to go learn how to read though. It isn't hard to read Thai. Writing is hard but reading is easy when you know the language already.

well I know he's fluent speaking thai, but what i mean by fluent in thai is fluent in all aspects. The fact he speaks it fluently and understands it perfectly makes it unbelievable that he doesnt read it despite being in the industry for over a decade. Most people get fluent with english after being here a couple years. When I was living in Montreal for less than a year, by the time I came back to Ontario, I actually spoke, read and wrote the language fluently enough to make sense and get around. Now a decade later I lost it cause I'm not in the environment anymore.

It's different if he's selling doughnuts on the street cause that doesnt require much reading or writing, but acting is all about reading scripts. How can you not adapt after reading so many scripts? He claims his memory is so great, but contradicts himself by saying he doesnt read or write well.

I was replying in regard to SB's mention of Wang Lee Hom. Cuz I don't think Wang Lee Hom even know how to speak Chinese at all.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too, if he has a good memory, it's not difficult to learn

so my opinion is he's trying to make himself superior to the natives, cause apparently it's sooo cool to be more westernized than asian if you're in asia *nthu*

are you serious? Lee Hom now writes some songs in Chinese even! And he talks to his fans in all kinds of events, concerts, etc. Not even mention that he's been acting in Chinese movies for more than 10 yrs! (the most famous one might be "Lust, Caution", lol) Funny thing is, I don't remember he ever speaks English in any of his movies!

Yeah, if you're able to speak and understand the language fluently like Chakrit, it's not hard at all learning how to read and write it and obviously, he had more than a decade to do so, but he simply chose not to.

Reminds me of Daniel Henney, his career is based off Korea, all of his outside/overseas projects flopped, so why not learn the language? He can't even speak Korean that well and he's been there like almost a decade too. I mean, the guy just rolls right through a Korean project with English.
